RMRRF 2024 is already here. Was the announcement made on the MK4 Pro. I have also been following @asylumlife as he has been doing a live walk around and showing us stuff. Yet to see the chameleon announcment.
Hey I've only just discovered 3d Chameleon. Has anyone been through a new reveal to give us an idea of how quick new products become available for sale? I'm getting the feeling it's not a huge company like Creality and possibly a single individual so completely understandable the site isn't updated, I'm just curious how long before I can find out the difference between Mk4 and Mk4Pro. I'd get the Mk3 and wait for firmware update but I want to know if it'd make more sense to get the Pro
I'm pretty sure that will be a feature for the Pro version. The Pro will have TMC2209 stepper drivers and the mk3 does not. Pretty sure that feature uses uses the same feature of the TMC2209 that allows sensorless homing.
I asked one of the live youtubers to specifically go to the booth. What I caught was the pro version are some download able files.... wasn't any more clear than that.
lol so did I. I bought the MK3 couple of months ago and then heard that the hardware is the same and was egarly waiting for the news. What printer do you have ? I have the sv06 and ender neo max. Havent configured the chameleon as I havent had the time yet.
I have the Neptune 4 Plus. I am really just wanting to use this to print from a dry box that is mounted taller than myself. Not even to do real multicolor printing. I just don't want to get up and change filament per print lol
Once I hear more on what exactly the pro consists of then more than likely Ill purchase.
More or less. The hardware that's been sold since October has been the upgraded Mk4 hardware, but the firmware for the Mk4 isn't out yet. It should be available in early May. In the meantime, even though the hardware has been upgraded, it still functions the same as the Mk3. When it is ready, the Mk4 firmware will be available, you'll have to download it and install it yourself.
The "Mk4 Pro" is a series of optional add-ons (4-way filament runout sensor before it even enters the 3D Chameleon which gives the ability that when one filament runs out it immediately switches to another one, the servo-based clippy for cutting the tip of the filament, a 4-spool filament "dry box" with buffer built in, etc). Instead of having to warehouse a bunch of pieces that people may or may not buy (remember, they're all optional), what Bill is instead doing is releasing the STLs to print the holders etc yourself, and a BOM (Bill of Materials) for each one that tells you exactly what you need to buy, such as bolts, nuts, etc ... and most importantly, the correct expansion board/chip to buy and places to source it. And, of course, firmware updates to make it function. So there's not really any point waiting, all the optional extras you will have to purchase separately and assemble yourself anyway. The most expensive piece seems to be an I2C board that allows you to plug in and control more than one add-on at a time, and even that's only around $10.

Anyone know if its possible to get automatic filament location detection on the mk3 or we have to wait for an addon from the mk4?

I've also been scouring every RMRRF post on YouTube! So far, only a glimpse of Bill in a preshow pass-though. So much anticipation!
