This doesn't make sense to me. If I press the button to retract before the filament is out of the extruder, the 3DC feeder will simply grind the filament in place since it cannot be pulled before the extruder has release it. If I simply press it and release it to activate the cutter, the next press will be to feed in the new filament before the old filament has been retracted.

No, that's not how it works.

1. Back the filament to the cut position using the G1 E- command.

2. Press the button to select the new filament. The 3DChameleon will cut the filament, but won't try to move it.

3. Back the filament out of the extruder using another G1 E- command.

4. Once the filament is out, press the button using a G0 command. As long as you're pressing, it'll back out the filament.

5. Once it's out of the Y adapter, you can press (and hold) the button using another G0 command to load the new filament.

6. Before letting off button, start extruder loading with a G1 E25 F1500, so they both work at the same time loading it.

7. Once the extruder has the filament, back off the button.

8. Finally, load the remaining distance to the nozzle with a G1 E command.

Okay. Step 2 explains it. I was confused about what point the cutting occurs. That makes sense. Thanks!
