It's not a recommended installation simply due to the complexity of the installation and the slicing. I will have a newer version coming soon in the Mk4 firmware that doesn't need the complex software, so stay tuned.
I might add, you can't upgrade to the Mk4 firmware, as it needs the Mk3 Mode 1 to use it.
You're talking apples and oranges... This has nothing to do with a direct drive extruder... What he's taking about is replacing the extruder with the 3DChameleon. In the old Mk2 and early Mk3, the 3DChameleon could be installed as the extruder, not as a device to load/unload your existing extruder.
