I am having trouble finding out how to get the exact extruder to hot end mm calculation, since the k1, I cannot advance the extruder in menu or in a slicer. How would I determine this value?
This is what I did:- get a piece of filament about 1ft long and a sharpie (light colored filament is best)- With the extruder gears locked put the filament in until it hits the gears and mark the very bottom of the exposed filament- Now unlock the extruder and put it in until it hits the bottom. Again, marking the bottom-most part of the exposed filament.- Your extruder to hotend distance is the distance between these markings, maybe +/- 1mm
You don't need to, just use our profile from Printables... It's already set up.
But, all you need to do is push a piece of filament into the extruder the nozzle, then pull it back out and measure the distance by looking at the imprint of the teeth on the filament.
