I'm starting to install my mk2 on a Monoprice Maker Select v2 (Wanhao i3 clone).
I'm looking for thoughts on how to mount the bottom of the Y splitter to the top of the extruder. It's a direct drive extruder where the filament enters by passing through a hole in the idler lever. See photo below.
There are a few more out on our Tinkercad page... maybe one will fit? https://www.tinkercad.com/things/gOtUzHmPrWP-3dchameleon-ptfe-adapter-plates/edit
@Marc Mundt did you end up creating a custom part for this? I also have a Monoprice maker select v2 and would be interested if you have an STL available.
There is no interference... the 3D Chameleon let's go of the filament while the stock extruder (or your upgrade direct drive) is working. It simply allows the filament to pass through it and only grabs the filament when the extruder let's go of it after it's unloaded. There is a single second where both are running at the same time, which occurs when the filament is being loaded into the stock extruder... the 3D Chameleon will push the filament into the stock extruder while the extruder is pulling it in. Once the stock extruder has the filament, the 3D Chameleon will let go of it.
Bill
will this work for the Ender 3 Pro using the Creality Direct Drive unit?
Does it interfer with the direct drive pulling the filament while the chameloen unit is pushing it? or are they somehow synced?
If you use Tinkercad, you can simple merge the models, however... That's very simple to do... No cad experience necessary.
So, I've not seen one with that printed part before, but if you have the STL for it, you can simple combine it with our Ender 3 mount which will allow you to have add the PTFE connector to it. Another option is to simply drill and tap a hole into the top lever arm and screw one of the blue PTFE connectors into it. Here is the adapter we use for the Ender: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4708799
