Small issues with my setup
good afternoon! I have been running my setup for a few weeks now and was hoping to reach out and see if anyone had any input on a few things. Firstly my color changes are working for the most part but I am still getting some very fine stringing and was wondering what values people tweaked to in the gcode to reduce the stringing ? I keep coming back to, it would be nice to have a filament sensor integrated into this system so if it jams or doesn't load the next color properly it will pause. In theory it would be pretty simple to have a sensor with an off-delay circuit set to the time it takes to unload and load the next color . has anyone tried this or something similar?
The brass compression fittings have been a bit of a pain for me the tubes keep popping out and i have to take it apart and fix it each time. is there something i am missing?

The stringing can be mitigated with proper tip shaping... see our FAQ #10 for details on it. A newer options is to implement a filament cutter, like the 3DClippy I designed. As for the filament sensor... you'd need to use something like Octoprint or a customized firmware to implement a solution like that. Our goal was to eliminate the need for a customized firmware and do all the work in pure gcode. However, with that said, you can easily build your own custom solution using our hardware... it's just a Atmega 328P and there is an ISCP header, so you can also reprogram it... but like I said, it's a lot harder to implement as you'll need code that coordinates both the printer's motion and the 3DChameleon's motions. Not impossible, but not a solution we wanted to make, either, as that would make it impossible to be adaptable to every machine. Really, the 3DClippy appears to be the best choice at this point.
