3DClippy not cutting consistently?

Having troubles with my 3dclippy not cutting/pulling tip off correctly (only on 1 of my 4 filaments during this print). I really think I'm pushing the x gantry to the right enough to cut it, and I even moved the "pulling tip off" gcode up a few lines to when the x gantry is still in it's "cutting" position to give it as much resistance force as possible, but sometimes it still doesn't pull the tip off right, or it doesn't cut correctly. not sure which is happening. Moreover it cuts successfully 19/20 times so it's very hard to troubleshoot. just pulled the blade out and it's very sharp still, and still superglued in the right place.

I added an extra 3mm to my pre-cut retraction distance and that seemed to have made it more reliable
