New MK3 - load stepper doesn't seem to be working/loading properly

Good afternoon everyone, I received a 3D Chameleon MK3 as a gift. Unfortunately, after following the instructions in the MK3 New Firmware video I've found that I cannot get it to load filament. The problem seems to lie in either the loading stepper or the controller/electronics although I'm unsure of where the issue really lies.

Upon trying to load any filament at all, the selector servo automatically changes filaments (does this part properly) but then the stepper that loads the filament simply moves back and forth rapidly without actually loading or unloading anything. I've attached a link to an unlisted Youtube video which shows this happening. I placed a small red dot on the gear attached to the motor and a small red line on the selector to make it (hopefully) easier to see the problem (sorry for the dark background). Trying to load or unload filament doesn't get me anywhere... it just moves it back and forth.

Is this what it is supposed to be doing? Looking at the MK3 firmware video on Youtube it doesn't seem like it is. Am I using it wrong or is it perhaps defective? What should I try doing? Looking on the forums I see that there is a post talking about flashing MK3 firmware, should I try following that?

Thanks in advance!
