AS5600 Sensor Mount Rework

In anticipation of the next round of MK4 features, I went ahead and printed out the mount for the AS500 and found a couple of problems. Because of the difficulty of editing TinkerCAD STLs, I went ahead and recreated the mount in FreeCAD and changed a couple of shortcommings in the original design.

  1. The tabs to hold the AS5600 in the mount needed improvement to hold it better.

  2. The port connections were just a little too small to fit the dupont pins. They were slightly widened

This is the result. I hope it helps others. I will post it to Printables when the feature update is released.

Note: I'd already started another print job when I snapped the pictures for this! 😁

I found the final result to be loose the the point where the card would fall out. The triangular tabs, depending on the tightness of the printer, may end up without the tips. I converted them to rounded tabs with the same tight specs.

I like the idea of using JST connectors! I couldn't tell what was used from the few videos and the DuPont pins came with the sensor. I will switch them out.

It's not TinkerCad itself, it's the resulting STLs are usually too broken to convert to solids for editing in FreeCAD, outside of TinkerCad.

I'm curious about what is used for multiplexing the I2C connection to use this sensor and runout sensors. I anxiously anticipating to next round of upgrades!
