My stock hotend/extruder seems like it's not going to work well with the Chameleon. Since the stock piece has a few other annoying shortcomings I'm looking to replace the hotend and extruder with something better (but still direct drive).
I was looking at the Titan Aero because of the features and because it includes both the extruder and the hotend. But I saw a passing reference in the Chameleon FAQ saying Titans don't work with the Chameleon.
Two questions:
* Does the problem with Titans seem hopeless or is it surmountable? Does anyone have it working with the Titan Aero?
* Are there any aftermarket direct drive extruders that are known to work especially well with the Chameleon?

Hi Marc, The issue with the Titan extruders is two fold... you have to have the tension just perfect and you need to replace some of the inner components to allow for tighter tolerances. The stock design has gaps that are too large and allow the filament to escape the channel while it is loading. We've found it a lot easier to simply replace the extruders with BMG style extruders, which also have a huge benefit... dual drive. I've also had great success with the new Hemera, and pretty much all the new dual drive extruders. The cheapie clear BMG style is one I use on most of my machines when I upgrade them... they're cheap and with a little tuning, work great. (Watch my fix videos for them) You can see them in some of my videos, like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mO8EjrR94w And here is the little fix video I did for it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Whgd3YlK16E
