Odd occurrence on tool change layers

I keep having something odd happen on tool change layers where it seems like it's got a clog or something causing it to partially miss a layer. It happens when I do infield first and it happens when I do walls first. It only occurs within layers that have tool changes. Has anybody seen this or know how to fix this?

That actually looks like it might not be loading it far enough into the extruder. Are you doing a purge block before hand? And what do they look like? Another possibility is that you have a retract on tool change turned on and it's effecting it.

Actually, in his case, he had a temperature setting that was incorrect... and his issue was resolved by correcting the tip shaping (temp setting.) If you're seeing the same thing, check the temperatures of the filaments and make sure your tips look correct and don't have strings or blobs on them. Follow our FAQ #10 guidance on correcting it. One other option is to totally eliminate the need for tuning the filament and instead use the 3DClippy to cut the tips off. This is a new design that cuts off the tip and leaves it in the hot end, which will then get purged on the next filament load. Again, anything you can post to help us diagnose it will help... gcode, 3mf profile and pictures of the tips would all help.

Oh, and no the Lift Z isn't what I'm talking about... it's the loading distance into the hot end that is important here. It's the value you entered into the GCode Generator distance... if it's too short, it won't load all the way to the nozzle, which appears to be what is happening. It could also be the tip shape... but I'd start with making sure it's loading all the way. A video of a color change would help diagnose it.
