Clippy

Think I’m going to opt for more of a bambu style clippy instead of the auto clippy on my qidi q1 pro. Just don’t see a good way to mount it at the moment. Anything special I need to do other than add gcode to tell the print head where to go to cut the filament

Thx. I may have figured it out but had to do a complete redesign. Is the 20kg stepper the smallest one that works effectively or will a smaller one be just as good.

It's all about torque... It takes quite a bit to cut through the filament without stalling the servo. If you halve the power, you need to halve the arm to maintain the torque. You need to move the blade at least 2.5mm to cut all the way through it, but with less throw, I don't think you can get the required cutting distance.

Though, you can go with a rotary gear system that can increase it using more rotations of the servo.
