Hey, the springs are a right bastard to get here in the UK. I'm thinking it'll be quicker / easier to run off some sort of bearing carrier with a flex based spring off the back. It'll probably be best to redo the part B/C too, but for now I'm just wild-carding it.
I just wondered if anyone has already trod this path?
Here's my current insanity / versions, but the printer is busy so can't test them:
When I originally designed it, I tried to eliminate the springs and found no solution that would provide the necessary compression force to allow a strong grip but also allow the necessary travel.
It might work for a short time, but quickly wears out. The spring designed was tested for over 100,000 cycles without failure. Printed springs never lastest a single print before failing.
