a few beginner questions (bambu p1p user)

I will be using mk3 from bambu lab P1P

q1 - I bought my mk3 set 2023-05-15 - what firmware version should be already loaded? do i already have mode 3?

q2 - how should I measure the length of the tube - I want to keep the original P1P tube and connect it with the green element to the connector at the back of the housing. Should I count the length from the tip of the hotend head to the entrance of the green mk3 stirrer? Any other way?

q3 - should I program the time interval for the pulses or stay with the one already programmed originally - (I assume it is 0.5s and a multiple)

When was this changed? I have loaded the file into Bambu slicer and the filaments retract too far and load not far enough. It's to the point of frustration. Also my filament run out sensor is being triggered. What gets me is when I manually load the filament with the switch it loads and unloads fine.

The filament run out sensor can be disabled and reenabled via a gcode command in the Tool Change GCode. You can use the M412 S0 command to turn filament runout detection off, and then M412 S1 to turn it back on. Sometimes, the tubes can get bent and the unit can not push through easily... but there is nothing in the code that would vary the distance it loads or unloads, they're either fixed at 10 and 11 inches for Mode 2, or fixed based on your G4 timing in Mode 3 in the gcode.

Make sure you can easily move the filament freely by hand and that it doesn't bind as you're pushing it... if it's hard for you to push, it's also hard for the 3DChameleon to push, if that makes sense.

As for when it was changed, Mode 3 was added in response to requests from Bambu users to be able to hide the installation and to move the Y adapter to the back of the printer. It's been out for month or so. Bill

a1 - Yes, it has the latest firmware. You can confirm it by holding the switch for 10 pulses... it should respond with either a 1, 2 or 3 pulse response depending on the mode... you can keep cycling through the modes until it responds with 3. a2 - No need... you'll simply time it in seconds... everything is based on how long (in seconds) you allow the buttons be pressed.

a3 - No need... if you use the provided mounts, the location will always be the same, and the speeds are sufficient to keep the .5 second intervals, so no changes should be necessary.

I've already run the set, but I'm doing something wrong because when I start printing chameleon unloads filament no. 1 - instead of loading it into the extruder of the printer.

What is the start-up procedure after applying power to the electronics?

I'm a little confused as to what you're asking.. when you load our P1P or X1C profile, it includes the appropariate startup gcode and tool change gcode. However, it sounds like you might be using a profile from a generic printer, which would not include the Start GCode specific to the Bambu printers.

Try downloading the profile from the Printables page for the 3DChameleon for the Bambu printers.

Hey Robert. Fellow P1P user here. Bill's newest Printables P1P configuration works as you want it too. The splitter gets put at the stock filament loader. You get all filaments loaded to the y-split, and upon printer start it will load filament 1, and begin print. And on changes will unload and load the next. Ive had 3 successful prints with the newest config.
