We are providing an inexpensive and easy way to add multiple colors or materials to your existing 3D Bowden style printer.
The first 3D printers could only give us one color. A revolution started with the ability to have multiple colors with the aid of advanced electronics and additional motors but came at a high price. We wanted to fix that and give everyone the same capability to experience color at a very low cost, and that's why we created the 3D Chameleon, a simpler approach without the need to update the electronics of your 3D printer.
A 2-color changer and a 4-color changer are now available. You can easily slice your 3D model file with your favorite multi extruder slicer and start your exciting adventure in colorful 3D printing by 3D Chameleon.
Currently, we have sample code for Prusa Slicer, Slic3r, Cura, Simplify3D and IdeaMaker. The examples are simple and can easily be adapted to other slicers as long as you have the ability to know when a tool change is occuring and have the abiliy to inject custom gcode when it happens.
The 3D Chameleon works by taking advantage of the existing mechanical hardware on your 3D printer to automatically remove and reinsert the filaments when a color (or material) change is required. By utilizing your existing electronics, we are able to use standard GCode commands to tell the 3D Chameleon which color to select.
